Axiom of Maria is een spannend avontuur vol actie dat zich afspeelt in een dystopische cyberpunk-wereld. In het spel ben jij Kay, een voormalige instructeur van de 707 Special Missions Group. De bevolking van de stad Seoul is in de loop der jaren afgenomen en de autoriteiten zijn gedwongen om het beheer van de stad over te laten aan een AI. Degenen die sterven worden bewaard in een virtuele wereld die Beyond heet, maar er is een groep die hen wil bevrijden door deze wereld te vernietigen. Wanneer Kay's man wordt gearresteerd omdat hij deel uitmaakt van die groep, wordt ze gedwongen om actie te ondernemen en tegen de gevestigde macht te vechten om haar familie te redden.

Axiom of Maria heeft een spannende verhaallijn, maar het aantrekkelijkste aan de game zijn de hectische, op actie gebaseerde gevechten. Uitgerust met haar zwaard moet Kay het opnemen tegen hordes cybernetische aanvallers die bestuurd worden door de IA terwijl ze door de stad navigeert en op zoek gaat naar haar man. De meeste tegenstanders zijn gewapend, dus ze is in het nadeel totdat ze dichtbij genoeg is om ze neer te slaan. Snelle bewegingen, tijdig ontwijken en precies toeslaan zijn de sleutel tot overleven in dit epische avontuur.
