Square Enix maakt de lanceerdatum van Final Fantasy XVI bekend

Hoewel het de prijs verloor aan Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom als Meest Verwachte Spel op de TGA 2022, maakt Final Fantasy XVI fans en liefhebbers wereldwijd enthousiast met elke nieuwe trailer. In de laatste, getiteld REVENGE, krijgt het zestiende deel in de kristalfranchise eindelijk een releasedatum.

Final Fantasy XVI zal wereldwijd op 22 juni 2023 uitkomen en de geruchten kloppen. Zoals gebruikelijk met huidige spellen, zal het met twee versies komen: Standaard en Deluxe. Spelers die FFXVI vooraf bestellen krijgen ook een bonus.

Final Fantasy XVI introduces gamers to an all-new standalone story in the Final Fantasy universe, an epic dark fantasy world that takes place in the realm of Valisthea—a land blessed in the light of the Mothercrystals, and where peace falters as the spread of the Blight threatens to destroy their dominions. The fate of the land is decided by the Eikons, powerful and deadly creatures, and their Dominants, men and women who have been blessed with the ability to call upon and wield them. This is the tale of Clive Rosfield, a warrior granted the title "First Shield of Rosaria" and sworn to protect his younger brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Phoenix, Eikon of Fire. Before long, Clive will be caught up in a great tragedy and swear revenge on the Dark Eikon Ifrit, a mysterious entity that brings calamity in its wake.

Final Fantasy XVI wordt geproduceerd door Naoki Yoshida, een van de meest erkende en geprezen namen bij Square Enix in de afgelopen tijd. Beter bekend als Yoshi-P, was hij verantwoordelijk voor het herstellen en veranderen van Final Fantasy XIV in de huidige kolos.
